Sunil Gangopadhyay

SUNIL GANGOPADHYAY-is perhaps the most prolific writer in the contemporary Bengali literary scene. Starting off as a poet, he has gone on to master the art of writing novels, short stories, historical fiction, children’s works and prose. He was born on September 7, 1934, in Faridpur, Bangladesh. His father shifted to Kolkata when Sunil and his siblings were still young. Sunil studied Bengali literature in Surendranath College, Dumdum Motijheel College and City College and did his post graduation in Bengali literature from the Calcutta University.
